Veteran & Government Cemetery Memorial Markers & Plaques

Veteran Memorials

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the grave of any deceased eligible veteran, in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. See cem.va.gov/hmm/ for more details on who is eligible for these benefits.

For those whose grave is marked with a privately purchased monument the VA more »» furnishes a bronze plaque or bronze niche, free of charge,to be place on the marker. The plaque is usually 24 x 12 inches and attached to a granite base or directly onto the cement foundation. The niche is 8½ x 5½ inches and is affixed to smaller markers, such as cremation memorials on a single grave.

A family member supplies a copy of the DD214 discharge papers from the deceased veteran to Lowell Granite Company, we then complete the necessary paper work to order the plaque from the VA. The plaque is then delivered directly to Lowell Granite Company. We charge a minimal fee to mount the plaque to the memorial.

For a unified look at the grave site, Lowell Granite can match all the various styles of markers for the surviving spouse. The surviving spouse can purchase a matching government marker from Lowell Granite, including the plaques or niches. See Bronze Memorials. The date of death can be attached by a date tab at the time of their death.    «« less
